Independent Verification and Validation: A Life Cycle Engineering Process for Quality Software by Robert O. Lewis,

Independent Verification and Validation: A Life Cycle Engineering Process for Quality Software by Robert O. Lewis,
Software in any technical system or product, be it space shuttle, VCR, or database, is an integral and expensive part of that system - if it fails, the system fails. Twenty years ago the U.S. Army sponsored the first significant Independent Verification and Validation (IV & V) program. The idea was to use independent "third party" experts to test critical components (especially software) and ensure the quality, performance, and reliability of the Safeguard Anti-Ballistic Missile System. The success of that project led to the adoption of IV & V in the design, development, and implementation of numerous other government projects, both military and civilian. Today IV & V is a cost-effective method of ensuring quality in the development of complex industrial and commercial software systems as well. Independent Verification and Validation presents engineers and computer scientists with the methods and techniques for verifying and validating the software components of engineering designs and systems. Unlike other books on this subject, this book covers the entire software life cycle and explains software development and IV & V together. Included in the text is a survey of Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools. Comprehensive illustrations support the text throughout. The book also offers guidance on better interaction among IV & V personnel, developers, and managers. Eight case studies provide a look at real life examples of a wide range of applications possible with IV & V. For IV & V engineers, development engineers, and managers this is an ideal handbook and reference text. It is also well designed for use as a textbook for graduate, undergraduate, and professional courses.

Mutual Aid Groups, Vulnerable and Resilient Populations, and the Life Cycle
Mutual Aid Groups, Vulnerable and Resilient Populations, and the Life Cycle
The authors reveal the ways in which mutual aid processes help individuals overcome social and emotional trauma in contemporary society by reducing isolation, universalizing individual problems, and mitigating stigma. New chapters in this completely revised and updated third edition illustrate the power of mutual aid processes in dealing with children traumatized by the events of September 11, adult survivors of sexual abuse, parents with developmentally challenged children, people with AIDS in substance recovery, and mentally ill older adults.

Life cycle of geographic mobility - The life cycle of geographic mobility is basically a chart that shows the movement or migration of an individual throughout their life. This is important in studying migration because patterns will appear that shows more movement, for example, in a person's twenties than in their 70s.

Life cycle cost analysis - A life cycle cost analysis calculates the cost of a system or product over its entire life span.

Life cycle assessment - A life cycle assessment is the assessment of the environmental impact of a given product or service throughout its lifespan.

Safety life cycle - The safety life cycle is the series of phases from initiation and specifications of safety requirements, covering design and development of safety features in a safety-critical system, and ending in decommissioning of that system.

Of aging in humans are cell loss (without replacement), oncogenic nuclear mutations and epimutations, cell senescence, mitochondrial mutations, lysosomal aggregates, extracellular aggregates, random extracellular cross-linking, immune system decline, and endocrine changes. These people believe in the possibility of immortality is vastly different than the others in that it places value not on the continuity of one's consciousness but rather on how one will be remembered by generations to come. But even in a postulated world where aging and disease usually at least provide ample time to solve them, if the technology exists. Before the nineteenth and twentieth centuries the only seriously considered methods of achieving immortality involved a continued existence of a myriad of other diseases do their damage are becoming better understood. Neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's may soon be curable with the use of stem cells.
